Radioactivity of the MINOS detector components and environment;
estimation of counting rates in the Far Detector

The radioactivity of all components in the MINOS detector has been measured. The contributions from the
U and Th decay chains have been identified, along with K40 and C060. These data have been combined
with the previously measured radioactivity of the local Soudan rock to predict counting rates in the
scintillator planes and also the rates of double and triple coincidences between different planes.
