The function of the baffle collimator is to protect
the target and horns against the failure from the
direct hit of the primary proton beam.
The transverse size and the length of baffle should be
large enough to overlap possible trajectories of the
mis-steered proton beam.
This report presents the description of baffle design,
as well as results of temperature and stress calculations
for two operational modes of baffle.
Based on these results, two baffle collimators were
constructed in 2003 at IHEP (Protvino) for the NuMI
target hall.
