Abstract:
Four conditions need to be satisfied to understand the near to far beam correction.

A large correction to the measured near detector spectrum is proposed to obtain the far detector spectrum. This is a central point in the MINOS disappearance analysis. Without this correction, which substantially increases the predicted low energy events in the far detector, the observed oscillation depletion will be much less.

Any public presentation of the MINOS result will have to spend substantial time on the near-far correction.

This correction has been documented for years, however, now it must be justfied in a way that is well motivated.
